For this project, I was exploring the idea of greenwashing. I wanted to create a piece that looked recycled, but was actually created from brand new materials. Each piece of fabric was hand dyed and intentionally distressed to give it the “recycled” look. I wanted to see how easy it was to create an artificially used body of work, I also used a new pipe which I let rust to be the support of the piece. Throughout this project, it helped me reflect on why I buy the products I do and just how simple it is to trick everyday consumers into being the eco-heroes in their lives.
