"84% of wildfires are caused by humans and all take part in destroying ecosystems. I started this piece by making the broken flower pot, and then creating the dead/burned bonsai. Once attached I painted them dull and red tones to show the true burnt deadness within. This piece ultimately refined my detail work by carving from very brittle and weak branches.I specifically chose to create a bonsai because of what it represents ¨balance and unity¨, and when set on fire it loses those exact properties. This dead bonsai tree represents the constant talking and destroying of natural resources without replenishing them, These acts will eventually leave us empty handed because nature will have no more to give."
